pesto jars

Just a few crumbs from my past week.

  • LeiLani and I went to the Chico Nighttime Farmer's Market this week.  Shopping for produce in the dark is a little strange, not totally sure what you've bought til you get home.  We also were there near to closing, prices were getting slashed, so I walked out with a gorgeous $6 bouquet of flowers and 2 huge bunches of basil for $1.  Yes, you guessed it.  I made pesto.  Another 6 cups worth of pesto for the freezer.  My goal is at least 2 more batches.
  • I'm sure everyone on the planet has seen this video that nods to Jane Austen.  I saw it for the first time last week and I can't stop laughing.  It's making want to watch Jane Austen Book Club.  Or read the book.
  • Remember all those raccoons I trapped this year?  Well, they're back, and making an absolute mess of things.  They ransacked my beloved tomatoes, picking every tomato they could find, red or green.  They took a couple bites out of each tomato, then moved on to the next.  The trapper is coming out tomorrow, we'll see who gets the last laugh.
  • As you know, I'm obsessed with Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm.  It's great, moisturizing lip balm with just a hint of color.  My new favorite color is Honeysuckle. It's almost the same color as my natural lip, but gives them the slightest sheen and even color. Get 'ya some.
  • I signed up for Melody Ross' new online course: Soul Comfort.  It begins on Tuesday but there's plenty of time to sign up!  In Melody's words: "This course if full of beautiful projects to fuel your creativity in very simple and easy ways that are meditational and relaxing , beautiful comforting things that will have your soul infused into them so that you want to keep them forever." I have taken all but one of Brave Girls Club's online art courses; they are so fun and really, it's not about the art.  Art is simply the vehicle Melody uses to teach her message of bravery, hope and encouragement.  If you're interested you can sign up here!
  • I think I'm about 90% through this darned site migration.  It has been h-e-double-hockey-sticks. Seriously, never doing that again. The good news is that all of you email subscribers got transferred over this week, didn't lose a single one of you!
  • Last but not least... I have been working like crazy to get this year's 31 Days Of series ready and with one week to go I'm ready to reveal the topic: 31 Days of Surviving Chronic Illness.  Doesn't that sound fun?? OK, it may not be a fun subject BUT it is such an important subject, especially if you suffer from chronic pain or mystery illnesses.  My goal is not to wallow for 31 days about how horrible chronic illness is but rather, give you some strategies and tips to getting through the bad days, finding the help you need and some inspiration to keep you focused.  I'm still writing the posts, lordy I hope I can get it all done in time!  Keep your eyes pealed, it all begins October 1.
